Liberals Say the Funniest Things

Here, we present some choice quotes from a Nov 1 chat at Washington Post Online. These gems come from readers concerned about Supreme Court nominee Alito:

<The Chat>

"Fairfax, Virginia: Given that Alito appears to be a conservative's conservative who would end the era of 5-4 decisions..."

Uh, looks like someone skipped one too many remedial math classes.

"Cass R. Sunstein: I don't think this catchphrase -- "no legislating from the bench" -- has any clear meaning. It might be code, meaning: Conservative!"

Actually, it has a crystal clear meaning. It means applying the law as written (otherwise known as being a good judge) as opposed to re-interpreting the Constitution to fit your own personal agenda. Also, for the record, overturning bad precedent and unconstitutional law isn't "judicial activism". Chuck Schumer, are you listening?

"Arlington, Va.: Would a strict constructionist judge rule that it is constitutional for a state to dictate specifically how I raise my children? How I must feed them, when they should be in bed, what type of discipline is allowed etc.? As far as I know there is no mention of this in the constitution."

OK, this one isn't all that funny in and of itself, and I even get the point (upon reflection, this person could be a closet Libertarian, and not even know it). That said, it does become funny when you realise the Constitution doesn't actually say anything about the 'right' to a job, or a home, or health care, or any number of things liberals want it to say. When you think about that, the statement becomes pretty funny in a liberals are morons sort of way.

And by the way, the answer to this persons question is 'yes'. So be careful who you vote for in state elections!

"Philadelphia, Pa.: Where is the outrage that President Bush did not appoint a female to replace Sandra Day O'Connor -- even after Ms. Miers?"

I ask you: What could be more sexist than insisting he nominate a woman?

Liberals insisting on a 'diversity' pick, should sit down, shut up, and be careful what they ask for. Can you say "Janice Rogers Brown" boys and girls? Come to think of it, if Stevens does kick the bucket, she'd be the way to go!
