DC Police Give New Meaning To The Phrase "Locked and Loaded"

Opportunity for professional development is important to any worker, government or not. Advanced police training is a good idea. Even sending DC officers to sunny Miami for training makes some sense... not as much sense as sending them to the first class FBI facility at Quantico right next door in Virginia, but hey we're talking about liberals here so the po-po deserve junkets too... But when the first thing those police do is get loaded on their lunch break drinking Schooners of beer (schooner volume = small bucket) on the public nickel when they were there for handgun and high-risk boat boarding training, you gotta wonder if Chief Ramsey is asleep at the wheel. But we know Chief Ramsey isn't always asleep at the wheel because he was nowhere near the wheel when his personal police cruiser was stolen from outside his house a while back. Drunken handgun training actually sounds kinda fun - if they can remember anything they were taught, but even better was the DC Harbor Patrol trip to Phoenix! If that last part doesn't set off any alarms for you, you might want to try and find a harbor on this Phoenix map.

British Liberals Get 'Tough' On Crime

OK, it is well established that the British government is full of fools. They completely disarmed the law abiding leaving them defenseless against the criminal elements. Predictably, crime has skyrocketed hence. Now that they've unleashed the beast, the lame-brain liberals have decided to crack down on criminals by...wait for it... sending them nasty text messages! Yep, that's gonna work...

Eminent Domain Abuse in DC

What is it about 'just compensation' that liberals don't understand? The DC government is [ab]using it's eminent domain power to take land to build a new stadium for Major League Business Baseball. Even though construction has yet to begin (heck, there hasn't even been a groundbreaking) there are already cost overruns. No surprise there. Since when has getting a liberal government involved ever been a way to save money? At any rate, to offset rising costs, DC plans to sell some land to developers! Now, if they can sell the land at a profit, just how is it that they can say that they gave the current owners 'just' compensation? The real question is: why is the government involved at all? If it truly makes financial sense to build a stadium in DC, why are half a billion dollars in public subsidies necessary? When DC has the worst schools in the country, does it really make sense to spend $500,000,000 in public funds to give illiterate kids one more reason to skip school?

Dead Men Tell No Tales

They can, however, vote Democrat.

Emergency [non-]Response in DC

Despite spending millions of dollars in Homeland Security funds, DC emergency response times are still an embarassment:

Boston Mayor At It Again

This is almost too disgusting for words:

Mayor vows in crackdown to snatch snitchin’ shirts

What is it about liberals that compels them to attack everything but the source of whatever problem it is that they are trying to solve? Seriously, is an absense of reason actually required for entry into the Democratic Party?

Who would'a Thunk It?

Who would have guessed that re-electing a convicted drug addict could lead to anything but golden times:

2005: Marion Barry Is the Focus Of a Federal Tax Probe

2002: Barry Arrested on Crack and Marijuana Charges

1990: Marion 'Bitch set me up!' Barry Arrested on Cocaine Charges

DC's Finest!

A fun look at the fair and equitable treatment that DC taxpayers get from their police overlords:

Church [double and triple] parking irks neighbors

Something tells me that the police wouldn't be quite so understanding if parishioners blocked Massachusetts Ave outside the National Cathedral, or the Michigan Ave outside the National Shrine.

What makes this particularly absurd is that most of illegally parking scofflaws don't even live in the district! They abandoned this neighborhood to the drunks and whores and druggies over the past two-decades. Now, after new young money has moved in and completely revitalized the area, the Black Flight Emigrants act like they have some divine right to double park in DC just because they used to live here! Liberal Policy Failure says: Phuck the lot of 'em. The DC police should be doing their jobs and applying the law equally.

The Psychosis of the Left

You can find a nice analysis of the left wing hate mongers here:

http://drsanity.blogspot.com/2005/11/lets-discuss-bush-derangement-syndrome.html

Really, how can these left wing whack-jobs turn one bad intel report (given to the administration, not written by them) into justification for likening the US government to the Nazis? Michelle Malkin nails it when she refers to them as the unhinged left. The modern left has transcended politics and transmogrified to pure psychosis.

More Liberal Lies (But I Repeat Myself)

Rose French, a no talent hack working for the Associated Press, lied her way into an interview with CEO Ronnie Barrett (of Barrett Firearms Mfg., Inc) and then did a massively innaccurate and biased anti-gun hatchet job on his company. It was so poorly researched that the AP had to issue a three paragraph correction, and still only scratched the surface of the factual errors and outright lies. You can read a full rebuttal here: Rebuttal.pdf

What is a Liberal Promise Worth?

The death penalty was a hot button issue in the 2005 Gubernatorial race. Virginians believe in punishing criminals. Tim Kaine has pledged to uphold the death penalty laws in Virginia. Liberal Policy Failure believes him. As governor, he can lawfully stay executions and it is fully expected that he will do so. Tim Kaine: master of the empty promise.

Virginians are firm believers in the right to keep and bear arms. Tim Kaine is notorious for his extreme anti-gun stance. Like all liberals, Tim Kaine denies any notion of a persons responsibility for ones actions, instead blaming inanimate objects (guns) for crimes. While claiming to be Catholic, Mr. Kaines belief in the magical corrupting power of firearms is rather more akin to VooDoo. In any event, Tim Kaine has pledged 'he will not propose any new gun laws'. Anyone with even a remote understanding of government knows that proposing new laws is the job of the legislature, not the Governor, so he is probably telling the truth. Tim Kaine: master of the empty promise.

Tim Kaine promises to "crack down on the criminals who use guns instead of restricting the rights of law-abiding gun owners." Does that mean he supports lifting laws that do restrict the rights of law abiding gun owners? Don't hold your breath, his anti-gun record says no way in hell. Tim Kaine: master of the empty promise.

Rather amusingly, as proof of his tough anti-crime stance, Tim Kaine promises to continue 'Project Exile' that targets criminals who use guns rather than law-abiding gun owners. Please note, Project Exile isn't one of his programs, but rather the work of the NRA. Tim Kaine: master of the empty promise.

Additionally, Mr Kaine claims to have cut Richmonds violent crime rate in half. Sadly, when you compare Richmond to the national averages, or even the rest of Virginia, he just doesn't have a lot to brag about. Tim Kaine: master of the empty promise.

Tim Kaine says he has a faith based opposition to abortion, but as a liberal, he doesn't believe in 'criminalizing' abortion. So what he tells us in his special liberal way with words is that just because something is wrong, doesn't mean we shouldn't do it? Well, that explains the crime rates in Richmond. Tim Kaine: master of the empty promise.

The English Language is a Fluid Thing

The English language is a fluid thing. Especially in the minds of liberals. Everyone is familiar with former (thank God) president Klinton's trouble with understanding what the definition of the word 'is' is. Now, we find liberal mouthpiece Michael Moore having fits trying to conceptualize what it means to 'own' stock.

Take the Bad With the Good

An earlier post oulines what a great place DC is for the unproductive single mother, but it turns out DC isn't such a great place for the mentally challenged (unless of course they're on the DC council).

Well yet more fraud, waste, abuse, and unaccountability has been unearthed in DC. Of course, Mayor Williams claims millions of missing or poorly accounted for taxpayer dollars aren't really a problem. After all, hey, what's $225,000,000 in improper spending between friends? Especially when it's someone else's money.

Washington DC Don't Need No Book Learnin'

Washington DC is rather proud of it's 'School Without Walls' program. Presumably they'd rather you didn't hear about the 'School(s) Without Books' Program.

Washington DC Subsidizing Private Car Rental Firms at Public Expense

Washington DC is in the process of turning over 250+ public parking spaces for the exclusive use of private rental firms without compensation:

http://www.washingtontimes.com/metro/20051114-112154-6315r.htm

The added difficulty in finding parking, due to 250 fewer spaces, won't be a problem for the DC Council. They granted themselves immunity from parking laws. I wonder if anyone over at the IRS is willing to check if any DC Council member has declared the value of this free parking benefit on their taxes?
